Live Oak Special Ed Teacher Accused Of Sex With Minor

By Kelly Ryan

YUBA CITY (CBS13) — A special education teacher has been arrested after police say he had sex with a minor.

Yuba City Police say Live Oak Middle School teacher Johnny Antoine Mouhasseb, 35, faces a charge of sex with a person under 18 and a weapons charge.

The school district says while Mouhasseb taught at the district, the alleged incident did not happen on the campus and did not involve one of the school's students.

Mouhasseb was arrested by Yuba City Police at a home in Plumas Lake. Police say the incident allegedly took place in Yuba City. Police say the victim is a teenage girl.

Mouhasseb's Facebook profile says he's a special education teacher for the Sutter County school district.

"The district has taken immediate and appropriate action in response to this arrest in accordance with the district policies and procedures," the district said in a statement. "We are working cooperatively with law-enforcement and will continue to do so."

The superintendent says Mouhasseb is an employee of Sutter County schools and that its special ed employees are often placed in other school districts.

Sutter County district officials say they always do background checks and have placed Mouhasseb on administrative leave pending an investigation.
