'It Hurts All The Time': Spencer Stone Continues To Recover From Stabbing

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) – It's the first time we're seeing video of American hero Spencer Stone at home after his release from a Sacramento hospital.

Stone declined an on camera interview with CBS13, but spoke to us off camera about the night he was attacked.

Telling us "I almost died" and "it hurts all the time," Stone is still recovering. He says very little about his attackers, but reveals that he spent almost a full day sitting with detectives to work on the suspect sketches released Saturday.

They are the same suspects seen in dark surveillance video stabbing him four times, after what Stone calls a rare night out in Midtown.

Down the street from his mom's Carmichael home are some very loving neighbors.

"I think it's a wonderful way for the community to come together; it really is," said neighbor Tammi Ruzic.

Tammi's little girl sold Stone Girl Scout cookies, but she's now cheering him on.

"I think that shouldn't happen again and [I] don't like people getting hurt," Carolin Ruzici said.

Others are flying American flags in Stone's honor.

"He had a friend that was so excited. She was a girl. She came down all the doors and said, 'you've got to get your flag out' and I said, 'I don't have a flag.' So I got a flag the next day," said neighbor Janice Dahl.

Stone says he's on extended military leave, at least for the next 60 days. But he says he can't wait to be back.
