Police: Gas Thief Gets Finger Stuck In Vehicle's Fill Tube

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A gasoline thief was caught in the act Thursday when his finger got stuck in the vehicle's fill tube, police say.

On Thursday morning, the suspect reportedly opened the gas door of a vehicle in the 5900 block of Gloria Drive with the intent to siphon gas. For some reason, he stuck his finger in the opening that leads to the gas tank and soon found he could not pull it out, according to a Sacramento Police Department statement.

Police arrived on the scene and requested firefighters' help to free the man's finger.

Firefighters had to dismantle part of the back end of the car just to cut off the piece of tube that gripped the suspect's finger. He was taken to Kaiser South hospital with the tube still on.
