College Football Weekly Q & A: Lincoln Kennedy On The Pac-12

This week we focus our attention on the Pac-12 with Lincoln Kennedy, who is an analyst for the Pac 12 Network and former Oakland Raider.

Q:  Is the Pac 12 beating itself up?  Will they get a team in the final 4?

A: I am certainly hopeful that they will get a team in the Final 4.  The only problem is, unless Utah runs the table, then everyone will have a blemish.  Compare that to the Big 10 with Michigan State and Ohio State that has 2 teams that are undefeated.  You know that the committee likes the SEC but I do believe they are against the Big 12 because they don't have a championship.

Q:  Is Cal quarterback Jared Goff NFL ready?

A: I think Goff throws the best skinny post in the country.  I think he is the ideal quarterback for the next level.  Now, with that being said, he has gotten progressively better in the system that he is in. How will that translate to the next level?  Do you have to keep it simple going forward?  That will be the biggest question.  Also he has shown some poor decision making like the Utah game, he has to come back from that and play better.

Q:  Who will be the next coach at USC?

A:  That is a difficult question, mainly because to me USC is very arrogant in their picking of coaches because it's a big brand. But what they need to realize in my opinion is that the brand sells itself. You don't have to have a premier coach.  More importantly you have to get away from the Pete Carroll tree to be successful, you don't have to rely on it.  USC will always have 2 or 3 deep stars at every position, it's going to happen, that's just how USC is.  They have to do what is right for the program.  I think Pat Haden needs to find a like personality to him so they can gel, I don't know the answer who that will be but I think that USC's arrogance sometimes gets in the way of making smart decisions.
