SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Spencer Stone has stayed silent about his Oct. 8 stabbing until Wednesday’s arrest.

The Hometown Hero says he was relieved to hear about James Tran’s arrest. He thanked the Sacramento Police Department for all their hard work.

“I’m just really happy,” he said. “Sac PD has worked their butt off. They’ve been relentless with the case, and I’m just glad they made an arrest.”

Stone says he’s still healing from being stabbed four times nearly a month ago.

“Still recovering; that’s pretty much what I’m focused on now, getting physically and mentally right, getting back out there,” he said.

Stone says he doesn’t know the suspect, but a sheriff’s deputy was outside his home, given Tran’s criminal history.

His plans don’t involve going out for a late-night drink anytime soon.

“I didn’t get down there that often anyway,” he said. “I think I’m gonna stay away from bars and clubs for a while.”
