Vacaville Police Warn Of Rash Of Smash-And-Grab Burglaries

VACAVILLE (CBS13) — Vacaville Police are warning residents a trio of suspects are connected with a series of smash and grab burglaries in Solano County.

Lagoon Valley Park was just one of several locations hit by the suspects who police say are after easy targets.

"We're all trying to be healthy stay in shape that's it," said Lavern Grooms.

But while they're trying to get in shape, shattered glass in the parking lot has many watchful and guarded. Vacaville Police say thieves smashed a woman's car window while she was hiking and got away with a purse containing her late father's precious keepsakes.

Surveillance video captured the the trio at a nearby Walmart where police say they allegedly used stolen credit cards.

Just down the street, the manager at Mary's Pizza Shack says his workers witnessed burglars break a guest's car window while the diners were enjoying their pizza. They called the police, but the suspects got away.

"We actually took care of all the food for the guests that were dining with us because they just ordered their food," Michael Clark said.

The good deed helped calm some nerves, but police are asking that people remain alert.

Police warn the thieves follow a pattern by aiming for place with easy freeway access.

The getaway car is described as a black or grey four-door BMW with tinted windows and dealership paper license plates.
