Local Community College Students Safe After Terror Attack in Paris

Paris, France (AP/CBS13) --  An official from Los Rios Community College has confirmed that their students who are studying abroad in Europe are safe after the terror attacks in France.

The students are a part of semester abroad program based in Spain, however students often travel around Europe during the semester program.  Rick Brewer of Sacramento City College says several students were in Paris at the time of the attacks but the he says they were not hurt.

At least 127 people were killed and scores injured in the attacks Friday night in Paris. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility.

An American woman from Louisiana was to undergo surgery late Saturday at a Paris hospital after being wounded in one of the attacks.

Helen Jane Wilson was at the Bataclan concert hall to hear the Eagles of Death Metal band perform Friday night when gunmen burst into the venue.

Wilson told The Associated Press that she was shot in the leg and was heading into surgery at L'hopital Saint-Antoine.

Wilson said she lived in New Orleans before moving to Paris, where she runs Rock en Bol, a catering company that specializes in culinary service for musical artists. According to her Facebook page, Wilson is originally from Los Angeles.
