Mom, Son Charged In Teen's Drug-Related Death In Alameda
OAKLAND (CBS/AP) — A California woman and her son are facing criminal charges in connection with the death of a teenager who mixed prescription drugs and alcohol during a party at their Alameda house.
The Oakland Tribune reports that the 57-year-old woman and her son, who graduated from Alameda High School this year, are charged with child endangerment and obstructing a police investigation.
They did not appear at their Thursday arraignment. Their next court date is Dec. 30.
Investigators say 17-year-old Clay Harding died after attending a party at the home last November. He was known as "C-Bone" and liked skateboarding.
Clay's mother Patty Harding said Monday that she thinks it's good for the community that criminal charges were filed so others are aware of dangerous teenage parties.
