WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Habitat for Humanity has a new program helping homeowners with much needed repairs.

“The roof, the garage, they’re painting,” said homeowner Virginia Valenti.

For the next few weeks, Valenti’s home is getting some much-needed repairs after her roof started leaking.

“The drops were coming into my room and next thing I knew they were calling me up saying they were starting next week,” Valenti said.

Valenti – a preschool teacher in West Sacramento – was unable to do the repairs herself, but with a new opportunity through Habitat for Humanity she will no longer have to worry about her home holding up.

“They asked what I wanted and the next thing I knew I got everything I wanted,” Valenti said.

Habitat for Humanity is known for building homes for those in need – and with the launch of this new program, they hope to help even more people.

“People that have been able to acquire homes but haven’t been able to keep their homes up to date.  With the home repair program, we want to help people stay in their homes,” said Laine Himmelmann with Habitat for Humanity.

It’s a program Valenti is grateful for.

“[It’s] unbelievable.  People I don’t even know are helping me.  It’s overwhelming to me, I’m so grateful for them to do this for me,” Valenti said.
