Galt Flea Market Tents Injure 11 In High Winds

GALT (CBS13) — Nearly a dozen people were injured when a gust of wind knocked over a tent at a Galt flea market on Wednesday.

Eleven people were injured, three of whom were taken to the hospital.

Cellphone video shows the tents and tarps taking flight as wind gusts violently picked up the coverings and slam

Ariana Gomez says she was trying to hold on to her family's tent before the powerful wind forced her to give up. She says she's asked the city of Galt for permission to use more secure measures to tie tents down in the past.

"Nothing of this would have happened if we would have the right to nail them down. And that's what I think. All this should be nailed down," she said.

A Galt employee said the city would not issue a statement on Wednesday's incident until after the Thanksgiving holiday.
