Big Waves, Dangerous Currents Predicted Along Southern And Central California Beaches

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Swimmers and surfers are being warned of dangerous rip currents and waves up to 10 feet along southern and central California beaches.

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for Los Angeles and Orange counties through 6 p.m. Tuesday
Forecasters say minor flooding of low-lying coastal areas is possible during high tides.

A small craft advisory is in effect to indicate hazardous sea conditions for boaters.

The event, resulting from a particularly strong west-northwest swell, will intensify as the week goes on. Forecasters say the flooding risk will grow by Thursday.
