2 Killed By Suspected Drunken Driver In Central California

SELMA, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say a suspected drunken driver hit and killed two men in a pickup truck during a fiery crash in Central California.

KFSN reports 30-year-old Tony Reyes and 36-year-old Greg Cantu, both of nearby Parlier, were killed in the crash Monday. Police arrested a 75-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving. He remains hospitalized with major injuries.

Investigators say the driver never stopped his F-250 pickup at a flashing stop sign and Reyes and Cantu were hit in their red pickup truck. It then burst into flames.

The suspect has been arrested twice before on drunken driving charges and was convicted once in 1996. Witnesses also said there were alcohol bottles in his truck Monday, the station reported.

Once he leaves the hospital, the suspect will be booked into the Fresno County Jail.
