Oakdale High School Volunteer Arrested For Allegedly Molesting Student

OAKDALE (CBS13) - A man who had been volunteering at Oakdale High School has been arrested on suspicion of committing sexual acts with a child.

Anthony Perez, 23, who volunteered as an aid, allegedly had sexual contact with a 15-year-old male student at Oakdale High. He was working at the color guard, music and drama departments at the time of his arrest, according to an Oakdale Police Department statement.

A parent of the victim, who is now 16, learned about rumors surrounding Perez's alleged involvement with their child and notified school administrators who launched their own investigation.

Police were notified, and on Sunday, Perez was questioned by Oakdale police detectives who say they corroborated allegations from the victim and Perez. He was arrested and booked into jail on charges of child molestation, and communicating with a minor and arranging to meet with a minor by use of the Internet for the purpose of sexual gratification. He was later released on $50,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
