How Much Longer Does Coach Karl Have With The Kings?

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Kings lost their third straight game Sunday to the Boston Celtics and rumors are swirling the Kings management is considering firing head coach George Karl.

Karl is the eight head coach since Rick Adelman was let go in 2006. If the rumors are true, a ninth Kings coach may be in place before the season's end.

Coach Karl has won more than 1,000 games in his career, but since assuming the Kings job last February the wins have not been as easy to come by.

Unable to connect with all-star center DeMarcus Cousins and a 21-30 start to this season reportedly has Vlade Divac and the Kings' brass exploring options.

KHTK Sports 1140 talk show host Carmichael Dave says it is doubtful Karl will be on the sidelines after the All-Star break.

"It just wasn't the right fit from the beginning," Dave said. "It wasn't the hire Vlade Divac made, but they were going to give it a shot for this year for stabilities sake."

If a move is made, former Kings power forward and current assistant coach Corliss Williamson will likely take over the head coaching duties.

"At this point, the team's tuned [Karl] out," Dave said.

The prospect of Karl keeping his job looks less likely after Sunday's game in Boston. The Kings were lifeless after tip-off, allowing the Celtics to score 46 points in the first quarter alone. They would fall 128-119.
