A major Comcast outage was affecting thousands of people across the country, including here in the Sacramento area, according to website Downtector.com.

KDKA in Pittsburgh reported Monday that Comcast official outage map on their website, showed customers in Pennsylvania, Chicago, Seattle, Denver, Houston, Portland, Baltimore, New York, Washington and Minneapolis are affected.

Comcast’s official support website acknowledged the outage, but did not offer specifics on who was affected and when service would be restored. The statement reads:

“We’re working to make your experience even better.

An update is currently underway and what you’re trying to access isn’t available right now. We’ll have everything back up and running in just a few hours, so please try back later. Thanks for your understanding as we work to make this the best customer experience possible.”

A local Comcast customer told us their service had been out.

Some customers told KDKA their internet service was working, but that their TV channels were not.
