Search Called Off For Bride's Father Who Went Missing After Grand Island Mansion Wedding

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) — The search for the father of a bride who went missing on her wedding day has been called off indefinitely after his lifeless body was found in a slough.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department announced the search had been called off Monday, but at the time did not disclose the reason for calling it off, three days after 55-year-old Prasad Moparti of India went missing.

They said a body was found in Steamboat Slough, about five miles south of Grand Island Mansion, where Prasad was last seen alive. Then on Tuesday, the Sacramento County Coroner's Office confirmed the body was that of Prasad.

Prasad was smiling in the last family picture he took before he mysteriously vanished. But Durga Moparti says her father seemed unhappy after arriving from India.

The weekend wedding was supposed to be a huge party at the historic Grand Island Mansion, but when it was time to leave to the Bay Area, Moparti was nowhere to be found.

Neighbors say they last saw Prasad walking toward the bridge Saturday afternoon. Sunday night, rescuers were searching in and around the delta.
