Ripon Police Giving Teddy Bears To Kids They Meet In The Line of Duty

RIPON (CBS13) - Police in Ripon plan to bring comfort to kids they meet in the line of duty with some furry critters.

Ripon residents Geri Lewis and Barry Day recently donated several teddy bears to the police department for officers to give kids in need of comfort, according to a statement from the Ripon Police Department.

Officers will give the bears to children they meet during incidents like domestic violence calls, car crashes, custody disputes, and runaway and human trafficking cases.

"We appreciate these donations. When we deal with children who are physically and emotionally wounded, sometimes the smallest gesture of human kindness is a positive step in a young victim's recovery," said Ripon Police Department spokesperson, Lieutenant Steve Merchant.
