Wrong-Way Crash In Yolo County Claims 2 Lives

ZAMORA (CBS13) -- Two people are dead after a wrong-way driver crashed into a pickup truck on Interstate 5 in Zamora.

According to California Highway Patrol, a 911 call came in around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. The caller reported a car driving northbound in the fast lane of southbound I-5. Minutes later another call came in reporting a crash.

The wrong-way driver hit a pickup truck and the truck caught fire. Both drivers were male and both died at the scene.

CHP says it's unclear at this point why the driver entered I-5 in the wrong direction.

The driver of the pickup has been identified as a 30-year-old man from Hollister. The wrong-way driver is said to be a 29-year-old man from El Nido.
