Davis Substitute Teacher Removed From Classroom After Marijuana Possession Accusations

DAVIS (CBS13) — An elementary school teacher in Davis was kicked out of the classroom, accused of possessing marijuana on the job.

Davis Police say substitute teacher Danette Boles, 53, was pulled from the classroom on Tuesday at Marguerite Montgomery Elementary School.

"It was determined law enforcement had to get involved," said spokeswoman Maria Clayton.

School officials say there was something in Boles' behavior that concerned students.

"Our students acted accordingly they way that we hope they will," she said.

School officials wouldn't say what they observed, but say it was disturbing enough for them to call police.

Officials say the amount of marijuana found on Boles wasn't enough to arrest her, but it was enough to take into evidence and cite her.

Parents immediately received robocalls about the incident and an email explaining what happened.

School officials don't believe the students had access to the marijuana.
