Police Arrest Suspect In West Sacramento Hit-And-Run Crash

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -  A pedestrian was seriously injured after he was hit by a vehicle in West Sacramento on Tuesday morning.

The hit-and-run crash happened around 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Sacramento Avenue. The driver, a female, was reportedly headed northbound on Jefferson Boulevard when she hit the pedestrian, according to a West Sacramento police spokesperson.

A witness gave police a description of the suspect's damaged car, which was discovered with its windshield smashed in the area of Kegle Boulevard and Fremont Drive.  The driver, 25-year-old, Branda Correa, was taken into custody.

Correa now faces multiple criminal charges.

"She has been arrested for hit and run resulting in serious bodily injury, possession of methamphetamine and DUI," said Sgt. Roger Kinney, a spokesperson for the West Sacramento Police Department.

Kinney says Correa is a resident of West Sacramento and was very distraught when she was arrested. She will be booked into the Yolo County Jail.

The pedestrian, who is only being described by police as being 50 to 55 years old, was transported to UC Davis Medical Center with unknown injuries.

Officers were working on piecing together evidence that might give them a better idea of what led to the crash.
