Delta College Professor: Bathroom Robber Also Stole My Physical Well-Being

STOCKTON (CBS13) — A professor who was attacked and robbed in a San Joaquin Delta College bathroom is speaking out as the search for the suspect continues.

The professor, who doesn't want to be identified, wants people to get a good look at surveillance video and help find the woman who took more than her jewelry.

"She's also robbed me of part of my physical well-being now," she said. "This individual who did this to me is capable of doing this to other people."

It all started with a routine bathroom break after class.

"She was already in the restroom," she said.

The professor was new to the Holt Building, but never suspected the stranger she just passed would turn on her.

"I felt two hands on my back. shoved me really hard," she said.

The professor hit her head on the tile wall, but it wasn't over.

"I slid down the wall and popped my left temple on the receptacle for the tissue paper," she said.

As she was bleeding on the floor, the suspect searched her purse for valuables before demanding jewelry.

"She was very calm," she said.

The eery calm shows on campus surveillance video from the day of the attack.

The professor was treated for a head injury that still hasn't gone away.

"I have blurry vision in my left eye and very sensitive to light and dark. Loud noises. Television hurts to watch," she said.

Doctors warn the physical injuries may never heal, but for this professor, it's about more than just pain.

"If you know this young woman, she could have potentially killed me," she said.

The college is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to a suspect, and a local tattoo shop has offered to double it.
