Katehi Won't Attend Friday Meeting With Students

DAVIS (CBS13) -- UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi won't be attending a public meeting demanded by students on Friday.

That decision comes after protesters disrupted a meeting between the embattled chancellor and UCD student senators.

Just inside of the ARC building our crews watched a group of student protesters demand that Katehi let them in.

They've been occupying her office for 20 days now- demanding that she meet with them. As she met with student body leaders- those protesters didn't stand there silently.

"If you have nothing to hide, meet us all outside!" they chanted outside.

Angry students refusing to stay quiet - as chancellor Linda Katehi meets with student leaders behind closed doors.

"What does Katehi have to do in order to leave Mrak Hall? Diana (UCD Student): She has to resign."

After 20 days of camping out in front of Katehi's office the students say they're not backing down.

"At this point staying was our duty- to continue this fight" said a student protester.

Student body president Alex Lee told us, "We're hoping to engage in a meaningful dialogue between all parties." saying he invited two student protesters to attend the meeting.

When our crew arrived more than two of them showed up beating on the doors and demanding that Katehi let all of them in.

"Having only two of us go in there was just a chance for them to isolate two of us and to leave the rest without the group"

The meeting eventually shut down.
