CLARKSBURG (CBS13) – A 34-year-old Sacramento resident has died after a head-on crash near Clarksburg Tuesday morning.

The scene on the west side of the Sacramento River, just north of the Freeport Bridge.

California Highway Patrol says the Sacramento man was driving his 2000 Honda Civic south on S. River Road when, for an unknown reason, he crossed the dividing lines and into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. The Civic was hit head-on.

CHP says the Sacramento man died from his injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, 55-year-old Elk Grove resident Bret Kimbro, suffered major injuries.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the crash.
