Modesto Teens Accused Of Threatening Student On Snapchat With Noose, Gun

MODESTO (CBS13) — Two high-school students accused of threatening another student on Snapchat have been arrested.

The video, which CBS13 first reported on last week, also shows a gun being fired, and was sent to an African-American classmate.

The student took the disturbing video to school officials last week. It shows a white student referencing the classmate while placing a noose around his neck, saying the victim must die. It also shows the students calling the classmate a derogatory word before firing a gun.

The school suspended the students after the CBS13 story, and on Monday, Modesto Police arrested the students believed to be involved with the video.

"What is very clear, is this is no laughing matter," said Modesto Police Capt. Brian Findlen. "This is a serious incident. There are a number of people, including the victim very clearly that are affected in this case and it has ramifications that are very serious."

The students were arrested on charges of making terrorist threats, committing a hate crime and criminal conspiracy.
