Search On For Suspect Who Sexually Assaulted Teen In Sacramento County

SACRAMENTO - It might be the last place you'd expect it to happen, across from a school, in the middle of a neighborhood. Deputies say that's where a 16-year-old girl was forced into an SUV and driven 5 minutes down the road and sexually assaulted.

The news is just as shocking to neighbors. Especially Aliyah Atkinson who is a young mother.

"Very unsafe. I don't go out alone. I go everywhere with him, so this is like oh my God," said Atkinson.

The alleged attack happened behind a Target. The suspect probably thought he got away with it, but his car was captured on camera.

Deputies said the suspect was driving a GMC early 2000 Chevrolet. They're looking for Hispanic in his 30's, 5'6"-5'8" tall, chubby, with short black hair, a goatee, and wearing a dark t-shirt and red shorts.

Deputies hope the public can help catch him.

"Whether it's a minor or an adult I mean it was an extremely violent offense and it's something to be concerned about," said Sgt. Tony Turnbull with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

Neighbors in the area say they're on the lookout for the SUV and keeping a close eye on their loved ones.

"Sick people. People who have no cares about other families have to go through when that kind of stuff happens," said Efrain Castillo.
