Trader Joe's Expands Initial Frozen Food Recall On Listeria Concerns

SACRAMENTO (CBS) – Trader Joe's has expanded its recall of frozen food products due to a possible Listeria contamination.

According to the FDA, listeria exposure usually causes mild symptoms in healthy individuals, but infection can lead to serious illness in people who are young, elderly or immunosuppressed.

The recall issued May 3, originally included Trader Joe's Organic Peas, Trader Joe's Petite Peas, Trader Joe's Organic Whole Green Beans, Trader Joe's Organic Broccoli Florettes, and Trader Joe's Organic Foursome.

Since then, it has been expanded to include Trader Joe's Organic Super Sweet Cut Corn, Trader Joe's Vegetable Fried Rice, and Trader Joe's Chicken Fried Rice.

"If you purchased these products, please do not eat them," the company announced on their website. "We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe's for a full refund."

The company says the products have been removed from store shelves and destroyed.
