Late-Season Winter Storm To Affect Far Northern California
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Even as southeastern California is bracing for days of extreme heat, forecasters say the far northern tier of the state will be affected by a late-season winter storm.
The National Weather Service says a winter storm watch has been issued for western Plumas County and the Lassen Volcanic National Park region Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon.
The unseasonably cold system could bring 2 inches of snow above 6,000 feet and 3 inches to 5 inches above 7,000 feet.
The north coast interior could see a dusting as low as 5,000 feet and up to an inch above 6,000 feet.
Forecasters say high-country travelers and hikers need to be ready for adverse conditions.
Trinity County and the interior of Humboldt and Del Norte counties will have a slight chance of thunderstorms.
