Del Paso Heights Murder Suspect Sought After Deadly Shooting

DEL PASO HEIGHTS (CBS13) — The man who was shot in a Del Paso Heights neighborhood Saturday night has died.

Sacramento police say the victim is an adult male in his 30s, and now homicide detectives are still continuing their search for the gunman.

Yellow crime tape hangs on the side of the fence of a home on De Witt Court Monday morning – a reminder of what took place just two days earlier.

"It's shocking, I just saw him on Wednesday," said Maria Martinez, a friend of the victim.

Sacramento police say he was gunned down at a home on the 200 block of De Witt Court Saturday night.

Martinez described the victim as a responsible man who often kept to himself.

"To my knowledge he wasn't in any gangs and he was a pretty mellow guy, he was a really responsible and respectful guy."

A woman who lives next to where the shooting happened was shocked when she learned of the incident on Saturday.
In the 50 years she's been living there, she says there's never been a shooting.

"They were helpful when I needed help because I'm grandma to everybody, but you know they have always been polite, they have always been polite to me."

Friends of the victim were seen coming in and out of the home Monday, but did not want to make any comments on camera.

Sacramento police are still trying to determine what led to the shooting.

Detectives are now working several leads on the gunman.
