Stanislaus County Sheriffs Recover 40-Year-Old Man's Body in Modesto Reservoir

STANISLAUS COUNTY, CALIF. (CBS13) -- Stanislaus County Sheriffs have recovered the body of a 40-year-old San Jose man who was reportedly submerged in the Modesto Reservoir for an extended period of time.

At approximately 1:12 p.m., deputies responded to Modesto Reservoir for a possible drowning near the ski course area.

The man had been swimming swimming approximately 50 yards from the shoreline with other family members without a life jacket, according to a press release sent by the Sheriff's department.

At 4:00 p.m., the dive team arrived to the reservoir to search for the missing man and they recovered the body at 5:10 p.m in the general area where he was last seen by family members.

This is the 5th drowning in Stanislaus County Reservoirs since May 15th of this year and none of the victims was wearing a life vest. The Sheriff's Office is asking for everyone to wear a life vest when they are in the water.
