Inmate Walks Away From Minimum Security Jail In Tuolumne County

JAMESTOWN, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities are searching for an inmate who walked away from a minimum-security facility on Sunday and has not been seen since.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials are looking for 34-year-old Daniel Perez, who left the Baseline Conservation Camp, located near the community of Jamestown in Tuolumne County about 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Camp staff searched the inmate dormitory area, surrounding buildings and the camp perimeter after he was discovered missing. All local law enforcement agencies and the California Highway Patrol have been notified and are assisting in the search for Perez.

Perez was committed to the facility from Los Angeles County to serve a 12-year sentence for first-degree burglary. He was scheduled to be released in November 2019.
