Boy Who Killed Neo-Nazi Dad Seeks Supreme Court Review

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - Lawyers for a Southern California boy who shot and killed his white supremacist father are trying to take his case to the Supreme Court.

Scott Ballenger, one of the boy's attorneys, said Friday they want the court to consider whether his then-10-year-old client had the ability to waive his right to remain silent during a 2011 police interview after he shot local neo-Nazi leader Jeffrey Hall.

Ballenger says youth legal advocates have also supported the request for review.

A message was left for California's attorney general seeking comment.

The state's Supreme Court last year refused to review the Riverside County boy's case. That effectively let stand an appeals court ruling finding he could understand what he was doing when he confessed to authorities.
