Instructor In Deadly Skydiving Jump Near Lodi Was Not Certified

ACAMPO (CBS13) – The instructor killed during a skydiving jump near Lodi on Saturday was not certified by the US Parachute Association, CBS News has learned.

The association is non-profit watchdog group that works to promote skydiving safety across the country.

A spokesperson told CBS News that anyone not listed with the group may not meet safety standards.

The Lodi Parachute Center declined to comment to CBS about the report Thursday morning.

Instructor Yong Kwon, 25, and 18-year-old Tyler Turner of Los Banos both died after jumping in tandem from a plane.

The FAA is still investigating what went wrong.
