'Hometown Hero' Anthony Sadler Talks About New Book

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The month of August marks one year since three hometown heroes thwarted a terror attack on board a Paris-bound train.

Now the Sacramento men are releasing a book recounting the heart-pounding moments on that fateful day.

"It's different when you get to read it in pages," says Anthony Sadler.

"The 15:17 to Paris" is being released this week. For Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos, and Anthony Sadler, the past year has been a whirlwind. From being awarded the French Legion of Honor, to speaking tours around the world, to meeting President Obama, the three friends never imagined their lives to have changed the way it did.

The book is roughly 230 pages and it not only gives the reader a first-hand look at what happened inside the train attack from the unique perspective of each American hero, but it's a story of friendship and loyalty.

Sadler says if it wasn't for their strong bond, things may have turned out different on that day.

"The reason I got up out of my seat is because I saw Spencer get up from his seat, I don't know what I'd do by myself," says Sadler. "I think that's where our bond and friendship come into play, the interesting thing about the book is the reader gets to know why we feel the way we do for each other. Why I would chase him towards a guy with a gun, gives that perspective of why we're friends."

Sadler says they're all three taking it one day at a time, and are simply grateful to be alive.

The next step for the guys may be turning their story into a movie. Sadler says some studios are already showing interest in putting their heroic act on the big screen.
