Man Drowns in Lake Natoma

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) -- Sacramento Metro Fire crews and state lifeguard officials recovered the body of a 21-year-old man from Lake Natoma Saturday afternoon, officials said.

Lifeguards say the man was swimming without a life jacket when guards saw him struggling. They attempted to make a rescue but the man had slipped beneath the surface of the water before life guards could make it to him, according to fire personnel.

The swimmer was submerged for 10 minutes before a dive team was able to recover his body.

He was then transported to Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, where he was pronounced dead.

The name of the swimmer has not yet been released.
