Southern California Woman Stabs Newborn, Takes Own Life

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Long Beach police say a woman has stabbed to death her 8-week-old son before taking her own life.

Authorities went to a home on Park Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

They found the bodies of 36-year-old Charlene Ventanilla and her infant son, Shane. Both had been stabbed several times.

Investigators say the mother killed the child and then took her own life.

Police say the boy's father discovered the bodies and called them.

There's no immediate word on what prompted the killings.
