Woman Caught On Video Abusing Pug Pleads No Contest To Animal Cruelty Charge

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) — The woman who was caught on video throwing a dog to the ground last year in Vallejo pleaded no contest to felony animal cruelty charges on Monday.

On December 19, 2015, Brandi Chin abused Benny the pug by choking, hitting and violently throwing the dog to the ground on Pennsylvania Street. The incident was caught on video.

Honorable John Ellis presided over the hearing today in Department 23 of the Solano Superior Court. Chin is scheduled to be sentenced on October 26.

In the video, Chin appears to be holding a small dog by the neck, then tosses it across the pavement. A man walks into frame, scoops up the little dog and walks toward the woman, later identified as Chini. Within seconds, several people race to the parking lot and there appears to be a lot of pushing and shoving going.

Benny was turned over by a third party to Solano County Humane Animal Services and later returned to his owner, the man seen on the video picking up the dog after it was thrown.
