SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Expect rain through the morning commute and the rest of the weekend.

The heaviest rain for Friday is expected through 11 a.m., but will taper off by the afternoon.

More wet weather is in store for the weekend, however. Saturday, precipitation will be mainly focused on the foothills and Sierra.

Sunday, rain will once again be widespread throughout Northern California. Gusty winds and thunderstorms are possible, with snow also expected to begin.

A Winter Storm Watch is expected to be in effect Saturday night through Sunday night above the 6500′ elevation mark. About 6 inches of snow is possible at the 6500′ mark, while more than foot of snow could hit above 7000′. A few inches of snow could accumulate in the Lake Tahoe area.
