Woman Shot And Killed In Antelope Had Been Targeted

Sheriff's detectives are investigating a homicide that happened Wednesday night in Antelope.

Dispatchers received reports of the sound of gunshots a little after 11 p.m. in the 4200 block of Hartlepool Way, according to a statement from the Sacramento County Sherriff's Dept.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a 28-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head. They determined she had just arrived home and was getting out of her car when someone shot her. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Metro Fire officials.

The victim has been identified as Jessica Chavez of Antelope.

Investigators haven't identified any suspects, but witnesses say they spotted a suspicious-looking dark-colored car in the area around the time of the homicide.

Investigators believe the woman was targeted.
