
EUREKA (CBS13) – A magnitude 6.5 earthquake shook off the coast of far Northern California Thursday morning.
The US Geological Survey says the earthquake happened at 6:49 a.m. about 110 miles southwest of Eureka. According to the USGS map, the quake occurred on one of the main fault lines of the Pacific plate.

USGS has fielded few reports so far of people feeling the rumbling.
