Crews Battling 500-Acre Grass Fire West Of Winters

6:30 p.m. UPDATE: The fire has grown to 500 acres, and mandatory evacuations are in effect for about 50 homes.

The evacuations for Golden Bear Estates have become mandatory.

5: 15 p.m. UPDATE: The fire is now up to 250 acres, and at 10 percent containment.

There are mandatory evacuations for a small community near Las Positas off of Highway 128.

An evacuation advisory has been issued near Golden Bear Estates.

SOLANO COUNTY (CBS13) - Crews are battling a large grass fire in rural Solano County.

The fire appears to be near Highway 128, between Positas and Pleasants Valley Roads, about 10 miles west of the Yolo County town of Winters.

About 30 acres have been burned so far, according to Cal Fire. Traffic controls are currently in place in the area.

Smoke from the fire can be seen from miles away.
