Mom Arrested, Accused Of Leaving 4 Kids In Car Amid California Heat

VICTORVILLE (AP) -- Authorities in Southern California have arrested a mother they say left her four toddlers in a parked car during triple-digit heat.

San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies responding in inland Victorville around midday Wednesday discovered three girls and a boy trapped in the hot car. Temperatures in the area topped 100 degrees.

Investigators believe the kids, ranging in age from 1 to 3, were inside for about 30 minutes with the engine off and the windows rolled up.

Officials say the 28-year-old mother was arrested on suspicion of child cruelty.

After being examined by paramedics, the children were released to the custody of a family member.
