SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Last week they protested gun violence.

This week, Rocklin High School students are using social media to organize a pro-life walkout using the hashtag #life.

“To honor all the lives of aborted babies pretty much. All the millions of aborted babies every year,” said organizer Brandon Gillespie.

He says his history teacher inspired the idea.

As thousands of students across the country walked out of class demanding strict gun laws, in honor of the Parkland shooting victims, Benzel was placed on paid administrative leave when she asked students to consider whether there’s a double standard in the national school walkout.

“I would like a conversation about when is too much? And are we going allow this on the other side?” said Julianne Benzel

The principal at Rocklin High declined to meet with us for an on-camera interview, but a district spokeswoman tells us, he does plan to sit down with the student about the possible abortion walkout, and that’s not going over well with some of his peers.

“Abortions aren’t really anything that has to do with school or students here,” said Naeirika Neev.

Neev is the editor of the school newspaper. In her posts, she’s using the hashtag “enough is enough” to promote peace, and take a stance against anything anti-abortion on campus.

“They have their First Amendment, they can go protest about that anytime anywhere,” she said.

But Brandon says protesting on school grounds is just the point.

“I would like to see if there really is a double standard and what will come of that,” he said.

He doesn’t have a date for the protest, but he does with the principal. Their meeting is set for this Friday.

  1. The radical left hates it when people have the audacity to think for themselves against the ideology. They also hate anyone who advocates for the defenseless babies they like to kill as a “choice”. This will be frowned on by the indoctrination camps we call schools.

  2. What’s good for the Leftist goose is good for the Conservative gander. Let’s see what the “tolerant” ones will tolerate.

  3. Jack Webb says:

The school news editor, Neev, thinks abortion doesn’t have anything to do with school or students?

Well, let’s see: 1) Students are having abortions–even without their parents’ permission; 2) many of their Moms have had one or more, thus depriving the student of a sibling; 3) reducing the number of students through abortion reduces the number of students who could later be taught leftist ideology and walk out in protest over guns.

So abortion very much DOES have a lot to do with students and school.

  4. It will be –illuminating– to see what the principal will do now…

  5. Cam Kirmser says:

Don’t people know that only liberals are allowed to set the criteria for protests?

  6. Doesn’t have anything to do with high school or the students? Really? High school students don’t have thousands and thousands of abortions? Little Miss Neev needs to get a clue before making such comments, or just come straight out and say she doesn’t support causes she doesn’t agree with – like a good little liberal…

  7. Too bad indoctrination not education is the schools goal anymore.

  8. “Abortions aren’t really anything that has to do with school or students here,” said Naeirika Neev, editor of the school newspaper. In her posts, she’s using the hashtag “enough is enough” to promote peace, and take a stance against anything anti-abortion on campus.”

This folks, is why journalism is dead. Neev is disinterested in covering anything that doesn’t support her political beliefs, she thinks she controls the debate, and she actually misuses her student position to suppress views contrary to her left wing ones

Still, she’ll be managing editor of the New York Times in a few years…

  9. Abortion has nothing to do with school, REALLY, REALLY???????
SO WHY ARE YOU TEACHING SEX EDUCATION, MOST LIKELY EXPLAINING THE VIRTUES OF BIRTH CONTROL, ABORTION!! LIBERAL ARTS EDUCATION.
YEARS AGO MEANT A BROAD GENERALIZED EDUCATIONAL SCOPE, NOT A SPECIALIZED MAJOR.
WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO EDUCATION, NOW LEARNING ONLY IS ALLOWED TO BE LIBERAL THINKING, NOTHING ELSE IS ALLOWED.
If you think on a religious, conservative mindset, or that you learn by questioning , you are chastised to be in total agreement with views, that they force feed you.
DON’T SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS, IF YOU WANT YOUR CHILDREN TO BE SATAN’S ARMY.

  10. Don McCoy says:

Might as well let the kids do the teachers’ bidding and walk-out to protest something every day. They aren’t learning anything in classrooms anymore anyway. At least they can learn, first hand, how quickly they’ll be ignored by a society tired of being protested for EVERYTHING that has to do with decency or Liberty!

  11. Will we see wall to wall media coverage for a week? No. Will the principle try and prevent this protest? Yes. Did you actually expect any other answers? And that’s what says it all.

  12. 65,000,000 small souls were unavailable for comment.

  13. You know the leftwing media won’t be covering this.

  14. We color in the lines and play by their rules all the time. It is time we fly a bit. Time we use the things at our disposal for our causes! And if they refuse–then they should be sued for bias.

  15. H Bud Reeves says:

Innocent bloodshed is innocent bloodshed. Holy Scripture tells us that “bloodshed pursues bloodshed because they have not hated it.” Bravo to this young man who is raising this discussion by confronting his school, his principal, the never ending hypocrisy of the Leftist, Humanist he is surrounding by at Rocklin H.S. Brandon, we salute you and are praying for you as you represent so much of what is needed in our fading republic.

Our youth teams have been taking the truth about the innocent bloodshed of abortion to the sidewalks of RHS for years. The students are usually polite. The administrators are usually rude and try to deny us our rights to free speech. Perhaps young Brandon has ignited a fire under the usually quiet people who agree with him.

  16. Interesting response from the Editor, how “abortion does not effect school” mmmmm obviously she does not know the statistics of the ages of young women seeking abortions, especially high school ages, thinking they have no choice, afraid to tell their parents, pressured by boyfriends, not knowing about options. Thinking that this will spare their life from an unwanted child, not
knowing they have given themselves a life time of torment and despair, that will never go away.

    1. Kelley Nalewaja, you are absolutely right. My (youngest) daughter advises my wife and myself that her good friend in school (16 years old) thinks she is pregnant (3 weeks?), but has not told her parents. She cannot afford a pregnancy test. I would like to buy a test stick and send to school with my (17 year old) daughter for her friend, but as a 3rd party, I best stay out of it. School has taught students about sex (nothing my two daughters have not been taught by their parents). To abort, not abort, very much has an effect on young lives, and on schools.

  17. Andy Howe says:

“Abortions aren’t really anything that has to do with school or students here,” said Naeirika Neev.
Well, I am happy to hear that there is no longer any issues involving teen pregnancy in the US. At least according to this student.

  18. David Smith says:

“They have their First Amendment, they can go protest about that anytime anywhere,” she said.

This from the editor of the school newspaper who is speaking about the first Amendment which she clearly knows nothing about. Her little Marxist rear thinks it’s okay for HER to have rights, but not others.

  19. Sounds like a “What if they held a protest and no one came” thing
