SACRAMENTO (CBS13/AP) – Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert held a press conference Wednesday in the wake of ongoing unrest over the shooting death of Stephon Clark.
Schubert revealed that the investigation into Clark’s death is currently in the hands of the Sacramento Police Department. Once that investigation is complete and the autopsies have been concluded, the district attorney’s office will review the findings.
A renowned pathologist hired by the family found that Clark was shot seven times from behind.
It could be more than a year before her office decides if two police officers broke the law.
“The community has a right to a fair and independent review,” said Schubert.
She said the state attorney general’s office is also doing its own investigation.
