Moms and daughters alike will sail past Old Sacramento’s most scenic views and hear fascinating stories about John Sutter to the first days of the Gold Rush era and also the Pony Express. Cruise times vary throughout the morning and afternoon and tickets start at $19.90 – $20 a piece. Treat mom to a delicious strawberry pancake breakfast and all things berry at this year’s BerryFest in Roseville which happens to conveniently fall on Mother’s Day weekend. Breakfast is served from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for $10, but take advantage of ticket deals now which includes $14 for two entries or $24 for four people. After breakfast, peruse through a variety of vendors, rides, races and obstacles courses, or sit in front of the beer garden stage to take in some live musical entertainment. Strawberries and baked goods abound are celebrated at this festival hosted at the Placer County Fairgrounds, but it’s also packed with plenty to do to keep mother and daughter busy all day long.

East Sacramento Garden Tour

Celebrating 20 years of garden tours every Mother’s Day weekend, the East Sacramento Garden Tour strolls through seven beautiful and inspiring gardens in Sacramento’s “Fabulous 40s” neighborhood. Join tour guides for a delicious luncheon at the Tea Garden at Sutter Lawn Tennis Club. Walk along the tree-lined streets and lovely homes to view a variety of lush and creative gardens. All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to student enrichment programs at David Lubin Elementary School. This year, organizers were able to include the “Lady Bird” house for the tour so take mom through beautiful gardens and neighborhoods and even a little slice of Hollywood for her special day.
Mother’s Day Triathlon and Duathlon

There’s no better way to celebrate mom and all the special things she’s accomplished throughout the years than by challenging her to a mother-daughter triathlon at Folsom Lake. The 7th Annual Mothers Day Triathlon and Duathlon for Women. The race starts at Granite Beach in Folsom on May 13 at 9 am. Beautiful finisher Medals will be awarded to winning racers in addition to post-race free massages and a hot meal for each participant. The Mother’s Day Duathlon and Triathlon hosts a 400 yard swim or 2 mile run, a 6.5-mile bike ride and 2-mile running course for women and girls. Finisher Medals and division awards are five-deep for the triathlon, three-deep for the duathlon, so lace up some sneakers and run, bike and swim along with mom this Mother’s Day.
