ALPINE COUNTY (CBS13) – Part of Highway 89 is back open just in time for Memorial Day weekend travel.

Last week, crews closed Monitor Pass on Highway 89 in anticipation of heavy snow and rain the area with the incoming storm.

Friday morning, Caltrans says they’ve removed the snow and debris from the pass.

Officials warn that drivers should always be aware that conditions can change on the road at any moment.
