10 Injured In Apartment Complex Fire

LOCKEFORD (CBS13) — Multiple people were hurt in an apartment fire Wednesday evening in Lockeford.

Fire officials said about 10 people were injured, four of whom were seriously burned because they were trying to rescue people who were trapped after a roof collapse. The others suffered from smoke inhalation.

The fire broke out around 8:20 p.m. on the 13000 block of East Laird Street at the Locke-Haven Apartments.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene to assist with the firefight and tend to the injured people.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
