Modesto Police Investigating 'Suspicious' Death
MODESTO (CBS13) — A body was found behind a business in Modesto and circumstances appear to be suspicious, police say.
Investigators say a person discovered the body of a male adult at the business complex at 2020 Standiford Avenue.
"For something like that to be happening it just kind of blows your mind," said Lucia Mendoza who lives near where the man's body was found.
The investigation comes as a surprise for Brian Kolakowski.
"Just kind of shocking because this area that I've lived in over the last 10 years we haven't seen stuff like this," Kolakowski said.
He worries about his children's safety. They go to school not far from where the man was found dead.
"Due to things like this in the area and it has us worried that something might happen to one of them," he said.
For Mendoza, the man's suspicious death is concerning. She came across the investigation while out doing laundry.
"Just knowing that something like that is so close to here it's kind of freaky," she said.
Others who live nearby feel the same way.
"It's sad this has become a fact of life and a way of life," one woman said.
