Report: Legendary Rush Drummer Neil Peart Dies At 67 In California

SANTA MONICA (CBS13) - Legendary classic rock drummer Neil Peart has died, according to reports.

The news was first reported by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation on Friday, who cited the rockstar's publicist.

Peart was part of the Canadian progressive rock group Rush, but he resided in Santa Monica. He was inducted to the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame back in 1983.

He was 67 years old. He had been battling brain cancer for the past three years, according to Rolling Stone.

News of Peart's death prompted an outpouring of grief across social media.

Rush last toured in 2015 and band members said it was unlikely they would play any more shows, citing Peart's chronic tendinitis and guitarist Alex Lilfeson's Psoriatic arthritis.
