Possibly Armed And Dangerous Suspect Barricaded After Short Chase In Yuba County Taken Into Custody
SUTTER COUNTY (CBS13) — A carjacking suspect, who barricaded himself inside a Marysville-area apartment complex, was arrested Wednesday afternoon.
The Sutter County Sheriff's Office said the incident began just before 8 a.m. in the area of Nuestro Road near N. Township Road in Yuba City. The victim, 35-year-old Lukas Gogerty, said a male suspect, Austin Wade Branch, and an accomplice took his 2005 maroon Ford Mustang and belongings at gunpoint.
Yuba County deputies spotted the vehicle in Marysville a short time later and tried to stop it. The driver then got out of the car and ran into a nearby apartment complex near Lowe Avenue. A SWAT team responded to the scene because the suspect was considered armed and dangerous.
Both suspects were taken into custody around 12:40 p.m. without incident. The Sutter County sheriff's office said both are charged with carjacking, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful taking of a vehicle, and conspiracy.
The sheriff's office identified the accomplice as 22-year-old Irene Naomi Mae Acord.
