The California Highway Patrol said just before 5 p.m., a 50-year-old man who was not wearing his seatbelt crashed into the concrete center median while driving north on Highway 99. The impact of that crash ejected the driver into the southbound lanes of the highway, where he was struck by a 2016 Toyota, driven by Constance Schlotthauer.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
CHP said Schlotthauer stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the crash investigation.
It’s unclear if drugs or alcohol played a factor in this crash.
Three lanes were closed on Highway 99 for the investigation. The lanes were cleared just before 8 p.m.
